Core Academics & Curriculum

Howard Middle School offers the widest selection of academic and elective courses of any middle school in Orange County Public Schools. Core classes in Language Arts, Science, Math and Social Studies are offered for students both at the regular grade level and advanced level. Students at HMS may also take several courses for high school credit, including Algebra 1 Honors, Algebra 2 Honors, and Earth Space Science Honors. The curriculum and instruction are very rigorous and students are held to the highest expectations.

As a magnet school for the Visual and Performing Arts, Howard Middle School provides a wide array of Electives from which students may choose, including 24 Visual and Performing Arts courses plus 4 Enhanced Elective Courses. Many levels of Art, Band, Orchestra, Chorus, Dance, Drama are just some of the incredible opportunities available for our students, both zoned and Magnet alike.
