Extended Day

The hours in between school ending and parents returning home from work are crucial hours in the life of a child. Afterschool programs provide students the opportunity to engage in hands-on learning, interact with their peers, work under the care and supervision of supportive mentors, build on lessons learned during the school day and more.

Supervision for Howard Middle school students begins at 9:00 a.m. 30 minutes before the school begins and  ends 30 minutes after school dismisses. For students needing supervision before 9:00 a.m.or after 4:30 p.m., there are three options available for the 2026-2027 school year at Howard Middle School.

• City of Orlando All-Stars: The City of Orlando All-Stars will be providing before/after school care on Howard’s campus. Please click here to apply/register for The City of Orlando All-Stars.
• The YMCA of Central Florida: The YMCA of Central Florida is also an option for before/after school care for Howard Middle students. They are located off campus at 433 N. Mills Ave.  The cost is a YMCA membership, with options starting at $29/month. For more information and to register, contact the Youth Development Director, Jen Sagala at jsagala@cfymca.org.
• Next Gen @ Jackson: Providing after school care and located at the Jackson Neighborhood Center,pick up will be immediately following dismissal at the end of each school day. Contact: Curtis Manning, Jackson Neighborhood Center Manager, 1002 Carter Street, Orlando, FL 32805, p: 407-246-4460.
