Howard Middle School Vision
Howard Middle School will become the premier Orange County Middle School. This distinction will come from multiple data sources including national recognitions.
As a school community, we believe the following characteristics are essential for meeting this vision:
- Howard Middle School is a place to where when you walk into the building you feel the positive atmosphere. Everyone is greeted and welcomed.
- Students and teachers successes are celebrated which causes everyone to look for the positive in each other. Our successes are an indicator that our efforts to improve are working and we must continue this improvement process.
- Our school personifies the essence of teamwork in which everyone is willing to help one another as all students venture along the journey of childhood and become successful adults.
- All students and adults have a high regard, respect and trust level with one another.
- Regardless of how or when a child enters our school, they will leave with the basic literacy and problem solving skills necessary for success in high school.
- Students are provided access to a quality rigorous curriculum. In addition, all students will show progress within this curriculum.
- When students are not successful behaviorally, socially or academically, the adults don't blame or find fault with the child but work together to determine why the child isn't being successful. They develop plans and willingly implement them in order to help the child become successful to the best of his/her ability.
- When students are having problems, they feel comfortable to speak to an adult for assistance or their friends look for ways to provide help.
- Parents and community volunteers have several outlets in which to assist students.
Howard Middle School Mission Statement:
Howard Middle School will provide all children with positive relationships, access to a rigorous relevant curriculum, and the support needed to meet this challenge. All children leaving our school will have the basic literacy and problem solving skills in concert with a solid academic foundation necessary for success in future educational opportunities throughout their life.
