Welcome to Howard Middle School!
Howard Middle School Academy of Arts is a visual and performing arts magnet, located in the heart of downtown Orlando. Our program is designed for students who are seeking a challenging academic focus, and who have a demonstrated interest or ability in the arts. In addition to a strong core curriculum, we offer beginning to advanced coursework in band, orchestra/strings, chorus, guitar, dance, theater, musical theater, visual arts, and digital art.
Our central location and focus on the arts allows us to have partnerships with many of our amazing local arts and cultural organizations, including Orlando Philharmonic Orchestra, Dr.Phillips Performing Arts Center, Central Florida Community Arts, The Orlando REP, Opera Orlando, Orange County History Center, and Orlando Ballet.
We are currently a lottery based system, with all students applying through the Orange County Schools School Choice office. Please visit schoolchoice.ocps.net for more information about the lottery process.
For more information about our school, there are several virtual resources available on our website for families and students to explore, including videos, our course catalog, and more. You can find these resources under the "Academics" and "Magnet" heading. For more information about our program, please contact Lee Ramsey ([email protected]).
Thank you to all of our families, both current and incoming, for your continued partnership in making Howard Middle School Academy of Arts the very best place for students to grow and learn, both academically, and in the arts!
Sincerely,
Emily Archie
Acting Principal
