Lottery and Registration

Although the initial application deadline was February 15th, families who missed that deadline or who missed a registration deadline after being offered a seat will have an opportunity in May (date TBA) to join the "Summer Waitlist" on the School Choice website.

All OCPS magnet applications are coordinated through the OCPS School Choice Office. For detailed information about the magnet application process please visit schoolchoice.ocps.net.

The initial magnet application window is November 1 to February 15. A computerized lottery will occur on February 24th. School choice will notify applicants of their status and Howard will then send a welcome email with details on how to complete registration and secure the seat. The seat offer from school choice does not secure your seat. All registration documents and forms must be submitted to secure your seat.

An additional lottery will be held April 7 for any remaining spaces from the eligible applications received during the November 1 to February 15 application period.

Eligible students who are not offered a seat in the first or second lottery will be emailed their waitlist number by School Choice. If magnet program seats become available, students will be notified and invited to complete the registration process at Howard.

Transportation is not provided to OCPS middle school magnets.
