About: If you love reading and competing, this is definitely the club for you! We meet and discuss the 15 Sunshine State Books from the state. A team of 5 and an alternate will be chosen in January to compete against teams from other middle schools in the district. National Honor Society for the Dance Arts (NHSDA)
About: Further information about NHSDA will be presented in all Dance classes in the first few weeks of school.

About: This student led group is for all who identify as and are supporters of LGBTQIA+ engagement, friendship, and advocacy. This is a space that is provided for students to be themselves and identify opportunities for growth and advocacy on campus. Topics are developed and curated not only by students, but also on recommendations provided by the Student Service office of OCPS.

National Junior Honor Society (NJHS)
About: The National Junior Honor Society is open to 8th grade students of Howard Middle School. Membership is based upon student cumulative GPA from 6th and 7th grade. Students will be invited to join the NJHS during the spring of their 7th grade year.
If you are a new 8th grader at Howard and were inducted into the NJHS at your former school, you can have your membership transferred.
If you are new to Howard and you were inducted into the Elementary Honor Society this is a different society and your membership will not transfer. Also, if you are an 8th grader your membership will not transfer to the high school National Honor Society as that is also a different society.

Student Council
About: Student Council is open to all students at Howard Middle School. Our purpose is to represent the interests of the student body of Howard Middle School and to provide services that help improve the daily life of our fellow students. Our goal is to keep the student body informed of relevant issues. Students should maintain a positive relationship with their peers, their teachers, and all members of the Ranger Family. Elections for grade level representatives are held each fall. Students must have a 2.0 GPA and teacher recommendations to run for office. Elections for officers are held in the spring for the new upcoming year. Students must have a 2.0 GPA, regular attendance at student council meetings and positive teacher recommendations to run for office.
