Bringing the Community into the Classroom … Partners in Education
Thank you for your interest in the Orange County Public School's Partners in Education program. As the 11th largest school district in the country, we appreciate and depend on our community's active interest in local education. Currently, Partners in Education is made up of more than 2,500 district and school-based partnerships. Connecting the academic and business communities within the city allows us to provide students with even more opportunities for success. There are a variety of ways in which you can become a partner. Our schools are always willing to explore how your business or organization can become involved. We look forward to seeing your name among our Partners in Education very soon.
Ways to become involved:
Paid release time for employees to volunteer in the schools of their choice.
Donate equipment or materials for classroom use.
Serve as volunteer, mentor, tutor, chaperone, or guest speaker.
Financial contributions.
Incentives for students for achievement, good behavior, attendance, etc.
Donate tickets to cultural, athletic or other community events.
Participate in a school, district advisory council, or PTA.
Provide employment, internships, or job shadowing opportunities.
Provide mock interviews and information how to complete a job or college application, or resume.
Conduct school or community beautification projects.
Sponsor field trips for students.
Provide workshops for parents, staff, faculty and administrators.
Allow students to design holiday cards, covers for annual reports and other publications.
Provide educational field trips to business.
Host meetings for school.
Provide printing services for school newsletters and publications.
Sponsor after school clubs.
Offer marketing, public relations, or business expertise.
Recognize outstanding students, teachers, administrators and support staff.
Offer programs to enhance students self esteem.
Medical or dental services for children in need.
Arrange a school supply or book drive.
Participate in various school events (i.e. health fair, school carnival, science fair).
Serve as judges for events and programs.
Sponsor district events/and or programs.
Support math, science, computer and technology education programs.
Offer scholarship opportunities for students/teachers.
Offer mentors for a dropout prevention or substance-abuse prevention program.
Assist schools in obtaining additional partners within the community.
